This week went well! I'm rating this week at a 5! I feel well rested, I got my lesson plans done early and they weren't over 90 pages! The students did well for the most part, but many have been out sick with strep or the flu.
Observe
I got through all of my edTPA teaching! They went well and I'm very glad I recorded everything to showcase student's understanding of the topic.
Reflect
The students had a really hard time with solving unknown problems even though we have been doing them for a month, so I will be practicing this with them again.
Focus
I feel relieved with myself and confident in my skills as a teacher. I am definitely more confident in what I do, which I wasn't at the beginning of student teaching.
Be Productive
I could have spent more time reviewing over student's work and less time stressing about everything! I think I have been more stressed this semester than I have ever been!
Have Courage
I was scared to try programming this week, but after I played around with the mouse bots in our classroom I was able to teach students how to program them. The lesson was fun and the students were engaged the whole time! I was scared because this is edTPA week for my math and literacy, but everything went well.
Begin Anew
My first logical steps would be to analyze more student data that I have collected so I can address any misconceptions during intervention. I need to clear my mind of any negativity that says I can't do this, because I am proving I can be a great teacher.
I analyzed a lot of test scores that were state mandated this week. I also analyzed the data from edTPA. This will help me choose activities for intervention next week.
Try not to stress so much! It can be hard, but it will hinder you. Be calm and enjoy where you're at.
Standards
1c I lead in the teaching profession this week by observing another teacher and leaving her feedback on how she taught. This was a great practice for me and I volunteered to let all of the other first grade teachers come and watch me teach and give me the same type of feedback.
2a I had to deal with a lot of sickness in the classroom this week, and lend students a caring and helping hand to get through the day or until they were picked up. I was very nurturing this week and extra sweet to them to help them make it through the day.
3d I was able to make instruction relevant to students by using the 100 days of school for a whole day of fun, educational activities. I got to use mouse bots this week which all students loved because they're really into technology!
4d I was able to integrate technology in almost every lesson, but the major lesson was programming mouse bots.
5a I had a lot of analyzing to do this week with edTPA!
I have started collecting lots of artifacts for my portfolio. No support is needed for the moment. Thank you!
Brittany,
ReplyDeleteGlad to see the teaching of edTPA is behind you - now...focus on the commentaries and tell your classroom story in a clear way so the readers will be able to understand the rationale behind your instructional decisions.
Make sure you have some of the programming information for your portfolio.
See you again soon!

Brittany,
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you are finished with edTPA! I finished this week too and it is definitely a great feeling to have that stress out of the way. Now we just have to finish all the commentaries and it will be finished! Keep working hard! Great job!
