Week 16
Last Blog Post!
I would rate my last week at a 5! It was absolutely hectic and full of energy because it was the week before spring break but I loved every minute of it because I got to talk with my students more and make even deeper connections with them.
Observe
There was so much going on, I can't believe we got it all done in 4 days! Our class did an egg hunt which was super exciting. I realized that little games like this that's appropriate and doesn't last long is exactly what students need to look forward to going to school!
Reflect
I learned that, through observing data, it is important to have differentiation in school work and learning the students take place in so they are able to grow at a consistent rate.
Focus
My goals are still aligned by feeling great about being a teacher! I was intimidated at first and felt like so many were against me, but now that I have proven to so many that I can and will be a great teacher I am confident in my abilities.
Be Productive
I could have spent more time on that portfolio, but it's almost complete now!
Have Courage
I was affected by what I did this week by not being sure about all of what I could incorporate for Earth Day, which was one of my global awareness pieces, but I found some great things for the students to do and they enjoyed it! We learned a lot about helping the earth and reduce, reuse, and recycle and the students asked to do more! I loved it.
Begin Anew
Next week I need to prepare myself for the last day at my school and to get ready to present my portfolio.
I analyzed iReady test scores again and realized I should have let students practice more with iReady.
Other student teachers: It's the end and we've done it! We all started at so many different places but are ending strong and I hope you are confident in what you're doing!
NCTCS
1a I lead in the classroom, even when I was not full time teaching, by helping my CE with field day and constantly keeping count/track of all the students.
2a I was able to make closer connections with the students since I was no longer teaching full time and even tutor some students so they could be on task with the class
3c I integrated a lot of Earth Day with reading, writing, and art
4g I helped students work as a team at field day. They cheered for one another and helped one another complete events
5c I have adapted to a complex learning environment throughout this semester and I am doing well understanding what is asked of me.
Have a great week and summer!!!
This is a series of blogs following my progress from the week or months before. These are my thoughts and hopefully the right way in the direction I am headed.

Student Teaching
Week 15
I'm going to rate this week at a 4. It was good, I just miss teaching full time already!
Observe
This week I noticed a change with my students since I was no longer teaching them full time. One of my more difficult students has come a long way in trusting me. I have noticed the way this student treats me is different than how the student treats others and I am glad to have made a close connection with the student.
Reflect
This week I observed 3 different schools. I realized that to get the most from the experience, it is imperative to be prepared with questions to ask and things specifically to look for when observing.
Focus
I'm feeling great about how I was doing as my student's teacher! They all grew in their reading and I'm super proud of them.
Be Productive
I could have spent more time getting my portfolio ready.
Have Courage
This week I was impacted by getting to see what I do and do not like about other classrooms and other types of management styles. I realized that having a close connection with your students and treating them as individuals with their own talents and lives makes for better classroom management and a trusting environment.
Begin Anew
Next week the first logical steps would be to work on my portfolio and keep learning more about other classrooms for my last 2 school visits
For this week, I analyzed what students needed to grow in with their reading skills and put that into their intervention strategies to learn.
To other teachers, make sure you're building relationships with all students and treating them as individuals
NCTCS
1b I worked with other teachers in helping me discover new ways in which to manage my own classroom
2b We went on a field trip this week and I was able to show the students how they can be aware of things outside of their community
3a I aligned instruction this week with Earth Day since we will be on spring break when it is earth day
4a When I was not teaching, I was able to help students individually with their work
5a I helped analyze student data in iReady tests
No support is needed at this time.

Student teaching
Week 14
I'm going to rate this week at a 5! Because I passed edTPA!!!!!! I'm so excited for the score of 57 I received! I was so nervous about it I had made myself sick. But now it's all good! I did completely lose my voice on Wednesday, so teaching was a little difficult.
Observe
On Wednesday, I was able to communicate with my students through sign language and whispering all day, which I was very surprised they were able to follow along with! They would even whisper and sign back, even though I told them they were allowed to talk, I just wasn't able to.
Reflect
This week I realized the more I let my students lead, the better they will respond. For example, since I couldn't talk Wednesday I let students lead different lessons and telling others what they should be doing by me whispering to them. It was a great outcome that I never planned to happen!
Focus
I am feeling great about my goal! I wanted to be more confident so I can be a better teacher by believing in myself. With how this past week has gone I have felt so much better in my abilities to perform and make an impact in the students' lives.
Be Productive
I could have spent a lot more time working on my portfolio, but I had something to do every day after school so I got home around 9:00 every night, and was exhausted
Have Courage
I was affected this week by not thinking I could handle the whole class without being able to talk, but I did very well with it, and luckily I only taught half the day since I'm fading out!
Begin Anew
Next week I need to be prepared to go to other schools to observe!
This week I have been analyzing iReady scores so I know if the students are on grade level and what I can do to improve their math and reading.
Student teachers: Stay strong and persistent!
NCTCS
1a I empowered students by letting them lead during class
2c I laid clear expectations for some certain students and let them know how I expected them to act on a day-to-day basis
3a I kept all my lessons relevant to the students and to NC standards
4h I was able to communicate what I needed from my students clearly, even when I wasn't able to speak
5a I have monitored EOY testing scores for the students
